Windermere over the Highline Canal Bridge Replacement– City of Littleton, CO
Theorem is the prime consultant for this bridge replacement project over the High Line Canal that replaces the existing bridge in poor condition with a new structure capable of carrying bike lines and a wider sidewalk in a tight ROW template. The project is funded in part by a federal grant and has CDOT oversight. Theorem’s services for the project include design project management, roadway design, drainage design, detour design, and structural design.
The project has included coordination with a large stakeholder group including public and private utilities, the High Line Canal Conservancy, the State Historic Preservation Office, CDOT, and adjacent landowners. Coordination with the private utilities has been a major emphasis since every utility in the area must be relocated within the existing ROW and obtain new license agreements with Denver Water to cross the Canal. Other key elements of the design include shoring to reduce nearby property impacts and temporary ROW impacts, drainage improvements that eliminate a sump condition in a stormwater line, and coordination of tree replacements through multiple agencies.
